Sometimes added strength is desired within your rifle. Converting your scope screws to the larger 8-40 thread pattern is one way to do this.
 
Your action is located onto the milling machine and held in place so that the screw holes redrilled on center and with the correct spacing for your action. Then the new holes are tapped or 8-40 thread pitch.
