Big piney steel challenge

Back again for 2025!!

May 10th 2025 we will be hosting another Steel Challenge at the Big Piney Gun Club, our second of the year and we hope to continue the success of prior matches.

This match will once again be in PRS format. This means you will be required to engage multiple targets at varying ranges from improvised shooting positions to resemble real world scenarios that may be encountered while hunting.

We once again encourage shooters of any age and skill level to participate and test your skills.

Shooters will be broken down into squads of 4-8 shooters and squads will travel together through a course of 7-8 stages to complete the match. Par times for each stage will be 2 mins 30 seconds.

Each stage will consist of one or more targets and 5-8 rounds each for a total not to exceed 50 rounds for the day. You can expect to see target distances from 100-600yds and everything in between.

The match is open to any centerfire rifle 30 caliber and under. If you have specific questions about your rifle for this event please contact us.

We will be using the Self RO format. Meaning that when you're not shooting, you will be asked to keep score and time for your squad mates, and they will be doing the same for you.

Match entry fee will be $20 and includes lunch

Kids 13 and under shoot free

All proceeds will go to The Big Piney Gun Club

There will be three divisions for this match:

Open (Adults, any rifle 30 cal and under, any optic)

Tactical (308 Winchester or 223/5.56 only)

Ladies

Youth (All shooters 17 and under)

There will be trophies for the top shooters

Match Schedule will be as follows:

Mandatory Safety Brief - 9:00am

Match Starts - 9:15am
